Broadway star Sheridan Smith paid tribute to her doctors after being stretchered offstage following a car crash. The 34-year-old has been receiving treatment in hospital following the accident, but posted a message of thanks on Twitter. “I’m so lucky to be a live. I wanna thank all the surgeons who saved my life. My family. Heart broken.” Smith also paid tribute to her fans, “Because of you thank you for all your kind words and wishes.”

She gave a direct message to her fans on Twitter, “I want to say a huge thanks to everyone who has been concerned by the death threats. You’re not disgusting people. I’m so embarrassed by it,” she said. She later retweeted a supporter, who added, “There’s nothing worse than someone who loses touch with their emotions or gives in to aggression, just trust your heart and pray for this girl.”

In a newspaper interview she added, “I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed people by not being myself with all of this going on. It’s life, but I love singing. It’s my thing.”
