CNN reported on Friday that host Chris Cuomo will be “suspended indefinitely” after an investigation revealed that he advised Andrew Cuomo, the New York governor, on a school district law about when board elections should be held.
The investigation by CNN chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who was involved in the Cuomo probe, found that Cuomo repeatedly violated a New York law requiring superintendents to observe certain minimums in holding school board elections. Cuomo, who was an adviser to Gov. Cuomo when the state was passing the law in the 2000s, repeatedly took a position that the law should be modified to allow more districts to ignore it.
The investigation also found that Cuomo violated an order by the United States attorney’s office in New York which prohibited him from publicly engaging in political activities in the state.
“Suspension is pending further resolution of the matter by CNN and its legal advisers,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement to the Times.
