CNN’s Don Lemon asked an interesting question on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” Sunday: is it a real choice whether to work at HBO or Netflix?
Lemon is about to start a new gig at CNN but he’s remaining at HBO to do some work there. If Lemon can live with the difference in size of his paycheck, and the fact that he’s so closely connected to David Simon, creator of “The Wire” and “Treme” — two TV shows he’s not behind — he can live with that, as well.
“I don’t think I can, but I think you could,” Lemon told anchor Brian Stelter, who’s a close friend. “And it’s actually, you can. It’s almost like pretending to have some kind of distance because I do actually respect my time with David. I respect David. He’s a very talented guy.”
Your take: Is it a real choice? Are you more likely to prosper at Netflix or HBO, he asked the audience, and who’s better to lose?
Postscript: Online petitions to keep Lemon at HBO crashed the site this weekend.
