A Toronto hairdresser who was charged in a public online video pleading for help identifying two alleged pedophiles last month has been hit with even more criminal charges, according to a media report.
Taylor Lakeland, 31, whose real name is TJ Latif, appeared in court on Thursday after an investigation revealed that Latif was also accused of sexually abusing three boys who are allegedly under the age of 13, and that he’d been operating a fraudulent business, according to CTV News.

An investigation was launched after YouTube videos were posted online containing alleged abuse dating back to 2014. The videos were filmed in Lakeland’s Toronto salon.
Lakeland was originally charged with sexual assault and sexual interference, but police expanded the investigation to include child pornography and now face 15 new charges of child exploitation. Three of the boys are Latif’s children, according to CTV News.
Police said the investigation began after a video surfaced in July that showed an adult defendant who appeared to be Latif alone in a YouTube chatroom. He asked viewers to help identify two additional alleged pedophiles.
He initially spoke highly of himself in that video. He said that “Joni [the alleged abuser] is good at everything and he did everything well.”
“Joni is older than me. He is 10 years older than me. He’s gorgeous. He’s a younger brother and he loves my kids and he wants to do the right thing and we’re going to work this out,” he said in the video.
A real person, which appeared to be Lakeland, was also involved in the alleged child pornography, but police said Thursday that their investigation is not yet complete.
